Avalanche warning for region Indre Fjordane Tuesday 14.04.2020

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Wet loose avalanches are the biggest problem, the danger increases when the rain sets in. Above the new snow line the danger will increase in lee areas. Avoid areas under glide cracks.

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Plussgrader til fjelltopphøyde har gitt skarelag og virket stabiliserende på det gamle snødekket.
Det er store snømengder i høyfjellet og skavler er mange steder store.
Det gamle snødekket er isotermt under ca 700 moh.
Det er observert sigesprekker i snødekket flere steder.

Væromslag søndag formiddag fra sørlig, varmt vær til NV og snøbyger. Til mandag morgen var det registrert over 30 cm nysnø nord i regionen (Hornindal)

10 mm precipitation, up to 20 mm in the most exposed areas. Moderate gale from northwest, changing to fresh breeze from the northwest during the evening. -10 °C to -5 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Tuesday 14. April 2020

30 mm precipitation, up to 50 mm in the most exposed areas. Strong breeze from west. -9 °C to -2 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Økende fare for naturlig utløste skred.
Under ca 800 moh vil regn og stigende temperatur gi fare for våte løssnøskred. Naturlig utløste skred forventes der det kommer mye regn i snøen.
I høyden vil ny snø og kraftig vind gi nye, ustabile flakdannelser, mest utsatt er heng mot Ø.

Vær oppmerksom på sigesprekker og at skavler mange steder er store, spesielt mot Ø.
